History:
This smallest
of the Spitz family originated in Germany in the 1800s. The original
Poms were large dogs of 30 lbs. Queen Victoria boosted their
popularity when she brought one home from Italy in the late 1800s. The
Pom has continued to be bred down in size. The little :"Puffball" dog
has gained more and more in popularity.
Temperament:
Playful, bold and self-confident
describes this little powerhouse. It can be reserved towards strangers and
aggressive towards other dogs. Some may bark a lot..
Maintenance:
An indoor game
or short walk outside will keep your Pom fit.
It's double coat will require brushing twice a week, more during shedding
season.
